     Title: Blessing of the Fleet 2009

Holiday Hervey Bay members enjoy the festivities at the annual Blessing of the Fleet on Saturday 01 August

Many Holiday Hervey Bay members were in attendance to watch the spectacle of the "Blessing of the Fleet" activities at the Hervey Bay Marina.  The Blessing is the official start of the Hervey Bay Whale Watching season - and literally goes off with a bang to the thunder of the fireworks display.  The Whale Watch fleet enters the harbour one by one to be blessed in front of the big crowd in the Marina.

Tasman Venture kindly displayed the Holiday Hervey Bay banner on the front of their vessel for the Blessing - bringing great applause from the crowds gathered. Even though the night air was cool - a warm response to the beginning of the Festival of the Sea activities was evident.
